I found a permissions error. Will they have to be changed?

A man who received a new license discovered an error on the back of his driver’s license. The mistake is insignificant – he himself did not immediately notice it. Now he asks: Should he change his license again?

Such an incident like a right with an error must be replaced in order to avoid more serious issues in the future. Errors and inaccuracies on a driver’s license can be significant or insignificant. If a mistake is made in the surname, the validity or “puncture” (if any) of the license is incorrectly indicated, such an error is considered significant (affecting the very fact of proper confirmation of the driver’s right to drive a vehicle) – the license must be replaced.

It is important to understand who is to blame for the fact that a person received his license with an error. If this happened due to the driver’s negligence (for example, if he filled out the application form incorrectly when contacting the traffic police), he must contact the state traffic police for a new license.

The citizen must write an application for the issuance of a new document due to the loss or damage of the old one or show the true reason for replacing the license – the presence of an error in the driver’s license. In the second case, the chances of repeating the mistake are lower than in the first.

There are no complications. Only in this case the driver must pay the state fee again.

If the error in the certificate was due to the negligence of traffic police officers, the reason for this must also be indicated in the application. In this case, there is no need to pay state duty.

A receipt for payment of the state fee and another copy – a copy of the document (two-sided) with errors must accompany the application. 30 days are allotted for consideration of your application. Currently, it is necessary to retrain the pedestrian.

Errors of law may be minor (not significant). For example, a typo was made in “Special Notes”. In this case, this is not a basis for replacing the driver’s license. If desired, the driver can do this himself. He can also travel with his old license until it expires.

By the way, if you want to learn more about the rules for issuing driver’s licenses, please refer to Russian Government Decree N1097 of October 24, 2014.

What happens if the error is material, and you did not bother to replace the “crust” immediately after noticing it?

Using the license with a significant error can be qualified as driving without the right to drive a vehicle in accordance with Part 1 of Art. 12. 7 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. And this is a fine from 5 to 15, 000 rubles per minute.

However, this is not the worst. A serious mistake in rights can be considered as – the use of forged documents. Perhaps those who need it will understand this, and careless drivers will be exempt from criminal prosecution. Yes, yes, what did you think! Service of forged documents – Article 327 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, part 3 (“use of a knowingly forged document”).
