Methods and stages of treatment of periodontitis

Methods and stages of treatment of periodontitis periodontitis is a pathological process that is localized at the apex of the tooth root and is characterized by inflammatory damage to the connective tissue surrounding the tooth root.At the first suspicion of a purulent process, do not delay periodontitis treatment (Kyiv) the causes of this disease are different in origin:

  • Complication of pulpitis;
  • Injury;
  • Exposure to drugs;
  • Getting infected.

Depending on the speed of the flow and the nature of the symptoms, the following types are distinguished:

  • Chronic;
  • Spicy;
  • Exacerbated chronic.

Also, depending on the nature of the exudate, serous and purulent forms can be distinguished. These species are present only in acute forms of this disease. With a long course of the disease, a focus of inflammation is formed, which is filled with granulation tissue. Thanks to these features of this process, the following classification of this disease is formed:

  1. Chronic fibrous periodontitis.
  2. Chronic granulating periodontitis (on an x-ray we see a focus of inflammation with unclear boundaries – “tongues of flame”).
  3. Chronic granulomatous periodontitis (unlike the previous form of the disease, it has clear boundaries of the focus of inflammation).

Symptoms

The symptoms of different forms of this disease are very different from each other. With acute periodontitis, the patient feels:

  • The patient accurately points to the diseased tooth;
  • Feeling of a grown tooth;
  • A feeling of fullness appears;
  • Irradiation of pain along the trigeminal nerve;
  • Increased body temperature;
  • Swelling of surrounding tissues;
  • Constant aching pain that intensifies when biting;
  • Weakness.

In the chronic form of this disease, there are usually no clear symptoms. The causative tooth usually bothered the patient earlier, was treated for pulpitis or another disease, closed with a filling, but always changed in color (has a pronounced gray tint). A fistula often forms near a tooth. The patient may complain of an unpleasant odor. So there is a possibility that the tooth will react to hotness (pain occurs).

Diagnostics

Diagnostics must be comprehensive and necessarily include additional research methods. Modern dentistry in Kyiv where periodontitis is successfully treated is in the Med-Deo clinic, where they will definitely take an x-ray targeted image of the causative tooth. In acute forms of periodontitis, the specialist will note the expansion of the periodontal fissure due to the accumulation of serous or purulent exudate in it. In chronic forms, the image will show foci of inflammation with clear or unclear boundaries. During a visual examination, the doctor will most likely find that the tooth has been treated (filling or orthopedic construction) or there is a carious defect. Also in the area of the root projection there will be swelling and hyperemia of the gums (these processes can spread to the soft tissues of the face). EDI is a mandatory research method that will show the electrical conductivity of the dental pulp (normal EDI is 6-8 µA). If a patient develops this disease, it means that the pulp is already dead. The indicators will be 120-210 µA depending on the form (acute – about 210 µA, chronic – 120-170 µA).

Treatment

Treatment depends on the type of disease. All doctors try to save the tooth and the treatment plan, for almost all forms, is the same:

  1. Anesthesia;
  2. Opening the tooth cavity;
  3. Depulping the tooth;
  4. Passage, expansion of root canals;
  5. Administration of anti-inflammatory drugs;
  6. Root canal filling.

We must understand that periodontitis treatment (Kyiv) will take place in more than one visit and, depending on the case, the stages and methods of therapy can be changed at the discretion of the doctor. It is also necessary to remember that surgical intervention is possible if the tooth cannot be saved or the process may spread to other tissues.

Conclusion

Periodontitis is a very unpleasant disease that requires timely contact with a specialist, otherwise there is a high probability of the disease spreading, developing complications and losing teeth.
